The Realvolve application this week became unavailable twice, first on Monday and then on Wednesday. Monday's downtime was caused by a conflict between the servers used to process outgoing SMS, email, and data updates. Wednesday's outage was caused by the crash of hardware that runs our search engine. Both issues were rectified by a restart of the affected services.
Each interruption lasted only for a short time, perhaps a few minutes, but any unscheduled interruption of service is unacceptable. In response to the growing usage of our application and these outages, the engineering team has made changes to improve performance and reliability and quickly warn of emergent problems. The team is also scaling up vital components so a failure in one does not compromise the whole. Much of this expansion of infrastructure was already under way. More details and updates will be forthcoming as the work proceeds. You can check the status of the application at any time and learn more about emergent issues on our status page at https://status.realvolve.com.
On behalf of the engineering team and everyone at Realvolve, thank you for trusting us with your information. We are successful if you are successful. — Martin Streicher, CTO
